Event: Ishiuchi Miyako at MFA
Belongings: From Hiroshima to Frida
Ishiuchi Miyako Photograph
On March 1st the MFA will present the annual Rad Smith Program in Japanese Art. We are excited that this year’s speaker will be Ishiuchi Miyako, the prize-winning photographer who was recently the subject of a retrospective at the Getty Art Museum. Ishiuchi is known for her gritty images of Yokosuka–the American base outside Yokohama–and photographs of the aging female body in her series 1-9-4-7. More recently she has examined the belongings of those who have departed–her mother, the victims of Hiroshima, and Frida Kahlo.
We would be pleased to make complimentary tickets available to interested students. Please just send their names and affiliation in a list to Kristen Hoskins at khoskins@mfa.org and we will arrange to have tickets held at the door.
Information on the lecture can be found on the MFA website. The link is provided below. http://www.mfa.org/programs/lectures-and-courses/rad-smith-lecture-belongings-from-hiroshima-to-frida
