Coordinator of Student Engagement
Showa Boston is the study-abroad campus of Showa Women’s University in Tokyo, Japan. Our mission is to increase students’ English proficiency, to develop their cross-cultural awareness and to foster their personal growth.
The Coordinator of Student Engagement will be responsible for the development and management of on- and off-campus connections and activities with Boston-area colleges and universities to increase opportunities for Showa Women’s University to engage with American students. The Coordinator will manage on-campus Wellness programming, collaborate with the Student Services team to improve services and programs offered to students, and produce on-campus programs for middle school-aged students.
Responsibilities:
Identify key personnel at Boston-area colleges and universities and through one’s existing connections and manage and create partnerships with institutions and opportunities for student engagement.
Create and manage a series of on and off-campus activities for Showa Boston students to interact with American college students.
Coordinate and expand existing on-campus clubs and Wellness programs.
Produce a series of discussions, presentations, and classes.
Coordinate safety initiatives on campus.
Chaperone student trips, including overnight/weekends such as the Niagara Falls weekend.
Assist with other areas of departmental responsibilities as requested.
Position Work Schedule: The usual work schedule is 9 am-5 pm (3 days/week) and, on average, 2 shifts/week from 1 pm to 9 pm. This schedule may change depending on the needs of the students/activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
2-4 years’ work experience in engagement or activities coordination on a college/university campus
Familiarity with Boston-area college and university programming
Proficiency in MS Office applications and social media platforms. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of desktop publishing and blog programs.
