Duties & Responsibilities Serves as the essential point of contact for all inquiries relating to the Program on U.S. – Japan Relations. Assists with the integration of international research fellows into Harvard and the wider Boston-Cambridge community. Refers fellows to appropriate resources when they have questions or concerns. Assists with publicity, including the website, social media sites, and graphic design of publications. Organizes events and social outings, and assists the directors in organizing program functions. Obtains estimates from vendors on all printing and mailing jobs not handled in-house. Maintains the database. May serve as departmental IT contact. Attends program events as necessary. Overtime will occasionally be required for evening and weekend functions. Performs other clerical duties as required.

Basic Qualifications One to two years of office experience required. Knowledge of business and imaging software such as Microsoft Office, OpenScholar, Filemaker Pro, Adobe Indesign, and Photoshop required.

Additional Qualifications College background preferred. Experience working in a university setting preferred. Demonstrable oral and written communication skills. Well-developed cross-cultural and interpersonal skills preferred.   Facility with databases and desktop and Web publishing preferred. Familiarity with the Japanese culture and language preferred. Familiarity with Harvard also preferred.
