Part-Time Job: Coordinator at LEX America (25 hrs/ week)

*Job Opportunity*

Part-Time Coordinator (25 hours per week)

A great opportunity for a former JET who wants to keep connected to Japan and improve your Japanese while learning about other languages and countries too.  Perfect for a parent with school-aged children or someone looking for a stable, but flexible, fun, and rewarding day job as you pursue music, art, writing, translation, etc.

LEX America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Cambridge, MA and founded with the mission of assisting individuals in developing their full human potential through multilingual and multicultural activities. LEX sponsors community-based, immersion-style multilingual language learning programs for individuals and families, cultural exchange programs for both adults and children featuring homestays in various countries, and educational publishing. We offer a pleasant, friendly, and informal but professional work environment. Our parent organization is located in Japan. Sister organizations are in Mexico and Korea. See our website at

The primary role of this position is language program promotion, coordination, and facilitation. In addition, there will be opportunities for exchange program coordination and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will be a generalist who enjoys a variety of projects, and is able to prioritize well. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, excellent writing and marketing skills, and strong interest in languages are a must. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required. A minimum of 2-3 years of related experience also required. A valid MA driver’s license and access to a car (for occasional use) are required. Multilingualism, cross-cultural experience, Japanese language skills, strong computer skills, and social marketing, grant writing, or fundraising experience are pluses.

This is a part time position of 25 hours per week. Schedule has some flexibility and this can be a good position for a parent of school-aged children. Benefits include language club membership and possible opportunities to lead homestay groups overseas.

The position may begin as early as immediately and as late as September 8, but preference may be given to someone who can start soon.

Please send resume and cover letter to hr at lexlrf dot org.
