Matt Castle for Vice President
Hello everyone! I’m Matt Castle and I’m running for re-election as Vice President. I’m currently finishing up my second term as Vice President of NEJETAA and am in my fourth year as a member of the Executive Board, having served as Special Assistant for Project Management as well. In the past I’ve been in charge of planning numerous events for NEJETAA, most notably our Annual Ski Trip to Killington VT and starting last year, our annual trip to Northampton MA. I have represented our organization at many events, including the annual JET Q&A at the Boston Children’s Museum and JET Pre-Departure Orientation, among other events. If elected to a third term, it is my plan to build on the success and growth that the chapter has seen over the past few years. We have seen a significant uptick of activity recently, and I will work with our membership coordinator to use this to increase our presence and engagement with alumni outside of the Boston area. Notably, in the coming year, I want to establish at least one official subchapter outside of the Boston area. I look forward to continuing to serve the alumni community and to work to make our chapter the best it can be. Rachel Pauplis for Treasurer
Hello, my name is Rachel Pauplis and I am running for re-election as Treasurer. I was an ALT in Yamaguchi-ken from 2012 to 2014 and returned to Boston after my time on JET. Having the network of other JET alumni helped ease my transition back into life here, and I have been an active member of NEJETAA ever since. I also value the role NEJETAA plays in connecting people with similar experiences in Japan and maintaining our connection with the greater Japanese community.
I have been acting as Treasurer since December 2014 and would like to continue in the upcoming year. As treasurer, I will do my best to handle all NEJETAA financial matters quickly and responsibly, organize the NEJETAA budget with the board, CLAIR and the consulate, help plan future events, and continue to be actively involved in the organization. Thank you for your consideration.
Jesse Kerstetter for Social Chair
Hi all! I’m Jesse Kersteter. It’s been a minute since I left Japan (Akita 2006-2010), and now that I’m in living in Boston, I’m hoping to reconnect with the JET community!
As NEJETAA’s Social Chair I would love to support the growth of NEJETAA in collaboration with current members and officers. In order to do this, I would work to help promote and coordinate NEJETAA staple activities like the annual ski trip and Shinnenkai. In addition, I would like to help find ways to engage JET alum in the New England area who live beyond greater Boston. I know that these activities are important opportunities for newly returned JET alum to find support in their return to the US, other alum to reminisce, and help get the word out for future JET participants. I hope my contributions and effort will help to promote the growth and success of NEJETAA over the coming year.
Thanks and I hope to see you in future NEJETAA activities and opportunities!
