Summer Job: Explore Japan Teacher Positions

Explore Japan Teacher Positions

EXPLORE JAPAN is a series of two-week programs in Milton, MA where local students learn about the many facets of Japanese culture while hosting and spending time with visiting Japanese exchange high school students. In the morning, each program includes workshops on Japanese arts and crafts, cuisine, martial arts, language and a variety of interesting cultural exercises. In the afternoon, the Japanese students and local host students embark together on field trips and participate in fun activities.  This fascinating exchange program is in its 22nd year!

The boys and girls are separated into their own program and each program has two parts to the day. Morning is 9AM – noon and we spend that time on campus, in the classroom.  Each Explore Japan teacher has a class of 12 -15 students and usually has a college student assistant with them.  The morning classes are meant to be fun so the emphasis should be on hands-on learning (origami, calligraphy and many other arts and crafts projects).

While the American students are learning about Japan, their visiting Japanese students are taking English class in a room nearby.  After the morning sessions, both groups get together and have lunch.  Then, the entire group embarks on a field trip to a local Boston area site before returning to campus at 4PM to be picked up by their parents.
