Webpage Management and Public Relations Position with Consulate of Japan Boston

The Consulate General of Japan in Boston is looking for a Webpage Management and Public Relations staff member to support its Cultural Affairs Department.
In this role, you will update and maintain the Consulate’s website, manage content for all of our social media channels including Facebook and Twitter, and take photographs of events, meetings and interviews. As a member of the Cultural Affairs Department, you will also assist with administrative work, public relations, and event facilitation. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, creative, and knowledgeable about website management and social media.
This is a part-time, contracted position in our Boston office until the end of March 2024, with a one month probation period, with the possibility for yearly renewal. To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter to application@bz.mofa.go.jp.
Responsibilities
Update and maintain the Consulate’s website.
Create, curate, and manage content for all Consulate social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter).
Occasional drafting and proofreading of documents.
Submit detailed progress reports about social media.
Assist the Cultural Affairs Department with administrative work and event facilitation.
Take and edit high-quality photographs of events, meetings, interviews (both onsite and offsite) for the Consulate and Consul General, to be used for our website, social media, and press releases.
Open to working occasional evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience using social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter)
Speaks English at an idiomatic level; Japanese language skills preferred but not required
Solid understanding of and interest in Japanese culture
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Work Schedule:
The number of in-person work days per week and number of daily work hours can be negotiated.
The new hire will be expected to work in the office for a minimum of 3 days per week (3 hours/day for a total of 9 hours weekly) and will have the option of working up to a maximum of 5 days per week (7 hours/day for a total of 35 hours weekly)
