Japan: Teaching Peace, Connecting People
Primary Source and the Boston Children’s Museum are presenting a course on November 7th at the Children’s Museum: Japan: Teaching Peace, Connecting People
The program will explore ways Japan has contributed to world peace since the end of World War II, current controversies and in particular how teachers can teach about Japan, peace building, and friendship. Anne Prescott who has led two delegations of teachers to Japan to learn about peace education and heads the Five Colleges East Asia Center also will provide an overview of peace education in Japan and Lani Gerson will will lead a discussion of peace education in the US. The day will also feature a performance by Women of the World who will be “Circle Singing” with the teachers and teaching how to create and exercise the culture of acceptance through music on November 7 at the Boston Children’s Museum. They will also share their story of how they made their Peace Song and their experience in Hiroshima. This program is appropriate for high school educators as well as K-8 teachers.

NEJETAA is helping promote a series of short films at this year’s Boston Asian American Film Festival (BAAFF). NEJETAA Members can receive a discount the the shorts series: Home In America, playing at 1pm on Sun. Oct. 25.
