Black Ships Festival Volunteers Needed for Saturday, July 21

The Japanese Consulate will have a booth at the upcoming  Black Ships Festival in Newport, RI on Saturday, July 21 and would like to ask for a few volunteers to help out.  We will be doing kingyo sukui (goldfish scooping, but with fake fish), shuji (teaching how to write a couple of characters like “summer”and “festival”) and Tanabata (people can write a wish and hang it on bamboo.)

We have two available seats in the Consulate van and will be departing @ 8:00am from near South Station.  We will leave Newport about 4:00 (event ends at 3:30) and return to Boston.  You don’t have to stay at the booth the entire time.

If you want to come on your own schedule, we’d also welcome you to stop by for a while and help out.

The Black Ships Festival runs for several days—info can be found here: http://www.newportevents.com/Blackships/

To volunteer, pls contact Susan Gill: s dot gill at cgjbos dot org
