Current Oita JET, Chris Allison, has started a project to share information about great places for foreign travelers in Japan to check out. It’s called “The Inaka” Project. As JET and JET Alumni we are in a unique position to help contribute to this project.
JETwit has more details here and as noted by another JET officer, this would be ideal information on how the JETs can get involved in their local communities!

Aloha NEJETAA!
My name is Beau Mueller, and I am a former Miyazaki JET (2009-2011) from Hawaii.
I am writing you to let you know about a writing contest for former, current and prospective JETs. Details are here. First prize is $150!
Along with my wife (also a JET – Kyoto 2002-2004), I have recently started JETProgram.ME, a multi-faceted community geared towards prospective, current, and JET alums. The site has many features, including JET classifieds, a non-snarky forum, the ability to create and join groups and more. Our goal is to make the site the go-to resource and hangout for people in all stages of the JET process.
Best regards,
Beau Mueller
